NSW JobSaver payment - Fortnightly eligibility re-confirmation required

The NSW Government has announced a fortnightly reconfirmation process for businesses to continue to be eligible to receive the JobSaver payment.

  • The business must have continued to experience a decline in turnover of 30% or more due to the Public Health Order
  • Also required to confirm that their employee headcount declared as of 13 July 2021 in the original application has been maintained;
    • Headcount will not be maintained if an employee that was included in the 13 July 2021 count has been dismissed or made redundant.
    • Headcount will be maintained where an employee voluntarily resigns, retires, or passes away; is stood down without pay; is terminated for misconduct.  Note: additional staff hires (which increase the headcount) also don't impact the headcount number
  • First fortnight  to reconfirm is from 13 September 2021 to 26 September 2021
  • This can be completed online at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/confirm-your-business-still-eligible-jobsaver

What if my business is closed during a particular fortnight?
If the business is closed and cannot trade during the fortnight that is being re-confirmed, you can simply tick the 'Yes' box in the online form to confirm your decline in turnover is at least 30%.
No further work is required to confirm your eligibility.

If my business is trading, what is the comparison period to use?
To work out the decline in turnover, use one of 3 options:

If your initial comparison period was in 2019 or 2020

  • Option 1 - use the same year but the corresponding fortnight as the current fortnight for which you are reconfirming - rolling comparison period

Option 1 - Example Only;

If you are reconfirming eligibility for the fortnight 13 September to 26 September 2021, and lets assume your comparison period in the original application was 26 July to 8 August 2019;
You must use 13 September 2019 to 26 September 2019 to compare against 13 September to 26 September 2021 fortnight being tested.  You cannot use 13 September to 26 September 2020 in this example

  • Option 2 - use the same comparison period that was used in the original application - static comparison period

Option 2 - Example Only;

As in the above example,  as the period 26 July to 8 August 2019 was used in the original application, keep using this period to compare against all current fortnights being reconfirmed, i.e. for fortnight 13 September to 26 September 2021 compare against 26 July to 8 August 2019 in this example, then do the same for each subsequent fortnight

If your initial comparison period was 12 June to 25 June 2021 (2-week period immediately before Greater Sydney lockdown)

  • Option 3 - use this same period (12 June to 25 June 2021) that was used in the original application - static comparison period

Option 3 - Example Only;

Keep using this period to compare against all current fortnights being re-confirmed, i.e. for fortnight 13 September to 26 September 2021 compare against 12 June to 25 June 2021 in this example, then do the same for each subsequent fortnight

Other important things to note:

  • Must use the same option each time eligibility is reconfirmed - cannot switch options for different fortnights
  • There won't be a requirement to submit additional evidence or attach any documentation - however businesses are required to maintain adequate records as evidence should Service NSW conduct a review of your eligibility
  • You will be able to see a list of fortnights that will require reconfirmation.  JobSaver payments will be processed only once the relevant fortnightly eligibility is confirmed
  • The reconfirmation option will remain open for each fortnightly period for the duration of the JobSaver program
  • A business can exit and re-enter JobSaver multiple times.  As JobSaver is not a one-off test, businesses can be eligible for one particular fortnight, then be ineligible for a subsequent fortnight.  If a business exits, then re-enters, there is no need to reapply.
  • The current closing date for businesses to apply for JobSaver is 18 October 2021
